Man rescues two Pit Bulls in desperate need of help

Last Friday, two Pit Bulls in desperate need of care were rescued after they were dumped at an abandoned home. Jimmy Arcadio Rivera, an administrator at Bakersfield Pitty Crew Rescue, told DogHeirs that the two dogs were “left to fend for themselves for who knows how many days or weeks.”
Jimmy says that he received an urgent call asking for help with the dogs late last week. The caller said that a friend’s neighbor had been looking out for the two dogs – now named Noah and Daniella – and feeding them what she could, despite being low on funds.

Jimmy told DogHeirs that he went to the East Bakersfield, California, neighborhood to investigate and when he arrived with a friend, they found Daniella chained to a tree. She was emaciated and had a swollen belly, as if she was pregnant. Noah was nowhere to be seen but after Jimmy and his friend walked a block away, Noah walked straight up to them. “It was at this point, we saw the extent of his injuries and knew that both these dogs needed to be rescued immediately,” Jimmy wrote.

Jimmy said, “Noah’s injuries were so severe that the vets think someone poured acid on his face and limbs, or even tied him to the back of a car and dragged him for miles. Half of the skin on his face was completely gone.” [Click here and here for graphic photos of Noah's head injury.]

As Bakersfield Pitty Crew Rescue was full, Jimmy and the rescue began contacting other small rescues to see who might be able to help with Daniella and Noah. By the next day, Cathey’s K-9 Rescue said they would take both dogs and Rising Dove Rescue (who is also currently full), volunteered to help network and fundraise for them.

Teresa Maston, Rising Dove Rescue’s California partner, told DogHeirs the dogs were immediately rushed to an emergency vet hospital for care.

Fortunately, Daniella was not pregnant. Her belly had been bloated due to severe dehydration and the bloating disappeared once she was given food and water. Daniella is currently in a foster home with Cathey’s K-9 Rescue and loves people and the attention she is receiving. She is also getting along well with her foster family’s dog.

However, Noah, who is thought to be between 5 and 7 years old, is in far worse shape.
Teresa said that in addition to being severely malnourished, Noah has “extensive damage to his tail, wounds on his ankles, and chemical burns to his head and entire body.” She added, “His teeth are an absolute disaster.” [Click here for a graphic photo of Noah's injured tail.]

Teresa said that Noah is not human aggressive but that “he has serious trust issues with other dogs.” Based on the bite marks on his body, he is believed to have been involved several dog fights.
